Road to Lashio

Mandalay – Pyin U Lwin – Kyaukme – Hsipaw – Lashio – Mandalay.

The road along this route is being upgraded. At present some sections have less than ideal surface conditions. Optional train from Mandalay to Lashio 4  Days / 3 Nights

Days 1 : Mandalay – Kyaukme – Hsipaw – Lashio. Tour Highlights : Depart  Mandalay by road through the Shan Mountains to Kyaukme. Visit Kyaukme Jade Market , town , local tribes and Bawgyo Pagoda. Continue to Hsipaw for town tour. Arrive Lashio early evening. Overnight in Lashio.

Day 2: Lashio – Kyaukme – Hsipaw – Pyin U Lwin. Tour Highlights : Lashio Market where local hill tribes can be seen, Quan Yin San Chinese Temple, Pyi Lon Chantha Paya, Chinatown and the beginning of the Burma Road. Depart Lashio for Hsipaw for visit to the Shan Palace. Visit workshops near Kyaukme making Shan paper and Noe – Chauk – these are Shan style dry milk strips ( considered a delicacy in Myanmar ).  View the Gokteik Viaduct railway bridge. Arrive Pyin U Lwin late afternoon for sunset from the Kyauk Taung Pagoda. Optional dinner at the Candacriag Hotel can be added. Overnight Pyin U Lwin.

Day 3: Pyin U Lwin – Mandalay. Tour Highlights : Pwe Kauk Waterfalls, Peik Chin Myaung Caves, Botanical Gardens and Pyin U Lwin town tour. Drive back to Mandalay in late afternoon.
