Pooky - a proud elephant finds sanctuary at last.

A bull elephant born around 1983 he came to us with a front leg injury. Pooky’s female mate is Sao Yai who previously worked at a tourist camp. Lek rescued them together when she took Sao Yai to rest at Elephant Haven. He is the father of Liberty. Today Pooky is the only young mature bull at Elephant Haven and ..... well. a bit of a stud. His handsomeness had not escaped the ladies of the herd. Many females are now carrying his seed and soon we will be blessed with the patter of tiny elephant feet..

Born on 1983, his mother was a logging elephant. When he was 6 years old they both had to leave the forest after the logging ban. Pooky underwent training for elephant shows while his mother was an elephant taxi for tourist rides. The owner keep both mother and baby together at the tourist camp until 1995. Pooky was then moved and sustained an injury to his front leg.

Today Pooky is only the young bull in the Elephant Haven. He is delighted amongst the female elephants and the love he gets from keepers and volunteers have turned him into a gentle bull elephant. He shows love and care to every female and their baby elephants. When he met Hope he act like he began acting like a little boy again. Both of them start to play together like baby elephants. It is such a joy to watch.
