Jokia's Journey

Amanda Denormanville helps Jokia adjust to her new surroundings

Here she enters the forest sanctuary for the first time. Amanda Denormanville from the US, and close friend of the park, watches on as Jokia settles in.

Jokia now is enjoying her new life of freedom, with a mahout to check on her every few hours. She is not chained, and is making friends with other elephants in the forest.

Such friends support is vital to the park. Their rewards, as captured in the photograph, are the feeling being close to nature and knowledge that their efforts really help.

Volunteers also assist with the settling in of new inhabitants.
