Chiang Rai
Chiang Rai is in the heart of the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos
and Burma converge. The province is famed for picturesque mountain scenery and several
high- altitude Akha hilltribe villages. Historic temples are found at the ancient capital
of Chiang Saen, which nestles against the Mekhong riverbank opposite Laos. Other
attractions include Mae Sai, a trading post bordering Burma at Thailand's northernmost
point, river trips and elephant rides to remote hilltribe villages.

Lampang
Lampang remains the sole provincial capital in Thailand where horse-drawn carriages are
still used for daily urban transport. Lampang's Burmese-style temples include Wat Phra
Gaeo Don Taow, Wat Sri Chum and Wat Chedi Sao. The World famous Young Elephant Training
Center at Ngao is another major attraction.
Mae Hong Son
"City of three mists". Northern Thailand's remotest province nestles against
the mountainous Burmese border and is renowned for majestic mountain scenery, remote
hilltribe villages, several picturesque waterfalls, and Burmese-style temples, including
the provincial capital's lakeside Wat Chongkam, and hilltop Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mou
which overlooks the town from a 900-foot vantage point.
