It is now practically impossible to get rooms anywhere in Thailand and those who have left their bookings to the last moment are going to be disappointed. Over Christmas and New Year you can just about write off Phuket and Samui. Rooms are still available in Bangkok. The Northern city of Chiang Mai has very few rooms left and is likely to be totally booked out by the end of the week. Chiang Rai & Mae Hong Son are full. Next year looks like the busiest ever for the tourist trade and during festivals we urge you to book well ahead in order to get the rooms that you require.
